What Is Manalutha?

Manalutha, pronounced 'MAN-LUTHA', is our small local Halloween-obsessed town, littered with a terribly macabre history, located in Somerset County.

Years ago, when the population began to drop and the bizarre Midwestern architecture put off potential homeowners, Manalutha became less of a retirement town and more of a melancholy tourist attraction.

Today, the town sits at a small population of just under fourteen hundred people, leaving the once-thriving facilities frozen in a constant state of disrepair. The Manalutha tourism department's website rots with its latest update in 2005.

Mayor 'Teddy O' Leary' still runs the town to this day with his bizarre social events made to bring remaining townsfolk together for the holidays, for example, Coffee Day, which takes place every 9th July. The official website describes Coffee Day as such –

''coffee day : ))  free coffee for tourists!" bif phat phil will be handing out his free handies of free coffee beans the whole doo da day!''

And not forgetting the ever-so-weird 'Uncle Sam Day' on the 4th of August, which is described as the following -

''august 4th is our annual uncle sam day, on this day we also through a massive parade with half the town people dressesd as uncle otherwise they don't get their free biscuite vouchure from dicks cafe afterworlds.''

But there is no Holiday bigger in Manalutha than Halloween, so much so. The third event listed on the Town Homepage described a 'Pre-Halloween Prep Day' which takes place annualy every June 3rd and 4th. The event reads as the following -

''we don't muck around here lads and ladies, this is a hallowen town. manalutjians can't get enough of the spooky goodness and so we suggest prepping AT LEAST 4 MONTHS IN ADVANCE! JOIN OUT pumpkin carving workshop included in halloween prep day.''

Yeah, we don't recommend reading that website for too long; it appears Mayor Ted hired some student named 'Larry' to make a tourism website for the town now over.... 20 years ago.

That being said, Manalutha quite likes its tourism each and every Halloween season; the townsfolk really go all out to make the town the spookiest it can be. Its landmarks such as the infamous 'Manalutha Courthouse', 'Mic's Ol' Garage', and of course the 'Manalutha Witch House' can all be visited with a charge. Other sites such as 'The Farmyard' can be entered with a donation.

Areas of the town such as 'The Square' and 'The Barron' are extra spooky around Halloween, with these corners of Manalutha really going all out with the decorations and events in hopes of attracting tourists to local businesses such as 'Dick's Diner'.
